Taliban publicly flogs two people in Herat

Taliban publicly flogged two individuals on Tuesday in Farsi district of Herat province, in western Afghanistan, on charges of having “illicit relations.”

According to a statement from the Taliban, each of the individuals received 39 lashes in front of a crowd.

Additionally, the two individuals have been sentenced to six months in prison.

Taliban did not disclose the identities of those punished.

Data collected by Amu TV, based on reports from the Taliban-controlled Supreme Court, indicates that nearly 600 people, including 106 women, have been publicly flogged in various provinces over the past three years.
