The Shpageeza Cricket League kicked off on Monday, with the Band-e-Amir Dragons defeating the Speenghar Tigers in the first match of the tournament.
Batting first, the Band-e-Amir Dragons set a target of 168 runs. Sediqullah Atal led the charge, scoring 69 runs off 46 deliveries. In response, the Speenghar Tigers managed 148 runs in 20 overs, losing eight wickets.
Allah Mohammad Ghazanfar was named Man of the Match for his impressive performance, taking three wickets for just 11 runs in four overs.
The Shpageeza Cricket League features five teams: Amu Sharks, Band-e-Amir Dragons, Boost Defenders, Speenghar Tigers, and Mis-e-Ainak Knights.
The Afghanistan Cricket Board has invited two international commentators for the league: Roshan Abeysinghe from Sri Lanka and Devender Kumar from India. Notably, some of Afghanistan’s star players, including Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi, Mujeeb-ur-Rahman, and Rahmanullah Gurbaz, have yet to join the tournament.
