Pakistan’s exports to Afghanistan reached $544.008 million during the fiscal year 2023-24, up from $522.271 million in the previous fiscal year, according to data from the State Bank of Pakistan, as reported by Pakistani media on Tuesday.
On a year-to-year basis, exports to Afghanistan rose by 5.53 percent, climbing from $43.657 million in June 2023 to $46.073 million in June 2024.
However, on a month-to-month basis, exports to Afghanistan fell by 38.04 percent in June 2024, down from $74.369 million in May 2024, the data showed.
Overall, Pakistan’s exports to other countries increased by 11.53 percent in the fiscal year 2023-24, rising from $27.875 billion to $31.090 billion, according to the State Bank of Pakistan.
Conversely, imports from Afghanistan to Pakistan during the reviewed period totaled $11.923 million, down from $15.277 million the previous year, marking a 21.95 percent decrease.
Year-on-year, imports from Afghanistan increased to $1.773 million in June 2024, compared to zero imports in June 2023.
Month-to-month, imports from Afghanistan decreased by 36.67 percent in June 2024, from $2.800 million in May 2024, the data indicated.
Overall imports into Pakistan saw a modest increase of 0.89 percent, rising from $52.695 billion to $53.167 billion, according to the data.
