A 16-year-old girl was reportedly strangled to death with a rope after being “sexually assaulted” in Faryab Province in northern Afghanistan, according to sources.
The incident occurred Thursday night, July 25, in a house in the village of Shor Bazaar in Shirin Tagab district, sources said.
The girl, identified as Hadia, was allegedly killed by unidentified individuals.
The family of the victim has not yet commented on the sexual assault allegations.
The Taliban has also not issued a statement regarding the incident.
This marks the second violent incident reported in Faryab Province in the past 24 hours. Previously, sources indicated that a seven-year-old child was fatally stabbed by unknown assailants in the province.
