More than 2,000 Afghan migrants were expelled from Iran and Pakistan in a single day, according to a statement from the Taliban-run Ministry of Refugees.

The ministry reported that on Wednesday, 2,079 Afghan migrants were deported “forcibly and voluntarily” from Iran and Pakistan. Iran expelled 1,664 migrants, while Pakistan expelled 415.

The statement detailed that 177 migrants entered Afghanistan through the Torkham crossing, and 238 through the Spin Boldak route. Additionally, 1,664 migrants returned via the Silk Bridge border in Nimroz.

This mass deportation follows a similar incident on Tuesday, when Iran and Pakistan expelled 5,992 Afghan migrants. On that day, Iran expelled 4,630 individuals, while Pakistan deported 362.

The continued expulsions highlight the ongoing challenges faced by Afghan migrants in neighboring countries.
