Afghanistan: 12-year-old commits suicide in Paktia

A 12-year-old boy in Paktia province hanged himself, ending his life, according to the Taliban security command in the province.

The Taliban’s security command in the province cited “domestic violence” as the cause of the suicide.

Muneeb Zadran, a spokesperson for the Taliban’s police command in Paktia, reported that the incident occurred Monday afternoon, July 22, in the village of Ali Jan Khel, Zurmat district.

Zadran explained that the boy hanged himself at home after an argument with his brother.

Such incidents are not uncommon in Paktia, where harmful cultural practices and traditions often lead to tragic outcomes, particularly affecting women and young people.
