KABUL, Afghanistan — The Taliban-run National Statistics and Information Authority (NSIA) reported a significant drop in exports, amounting to $11 million, for the period of May 4 to June 20 compared to the same period in 2023.
The NSIA stated on Saturday that less than $100 million in exports were conducted abroad between May 4 and June 20, 2024.
During this period, imports totaled over $900 million, reflecting a substantial trade deficit.
According to the report, exports were primarily directed to Pakistan, India, and Iran, while imports came mainly from Iran, Pakistan, and China.
