KABUL, Afghanistan — The Taliban-run meteorological department has issued a warning of heavy rain and potential flooding in eight provinces on July 21.

The affected provinces are Badakhshan, Nuristan, Kunar, Nangarhar, Logar, Paktia, Laghman, and Khost. Rainfall is expected to range between 15 and 35 millimeters. The statement also noted that heavy storms are predicted in the northern, western, southern, and central regions of the country.

Recent floods in Afghanistan have caused significant damage, resulting in dozens of deaths and the displacement of thousands. Last week, over 40 people lost their lives and hundreds were injured in a natural disaster in Nangarhar.
