As deportations continue, more than 2,200 Afghan migrants entered the country from Iran and Pakistan on Wednesday, July 17, according to Taliban-run refugees ministry.

The ministry said that a total of 2,243 individuals were forcibly or voluntarily deported on Wednesday.

The statement detailed that Iran accounted for 2,212 of these deportations, while Pakistan expelled 31 migrants.

The ministry further noted that the 31 migrants from Pakistan returned via the Torkham border crossing.

Meanwhile, 1,019 individuals crossed into Afghanistan through the Islam Qala border in Herat, and another 1,193 returned via the Pul-e-Abrisham border.

This mass deportation follows a similar action earlier in the week, where Iran and Pakistan expelled 1,408 Afghan migrants under similar circumstances.

The recent expulsions highlight the ongoing challenges faced by Afghan migrants in neighboring countries.
