Ghor’s Passaband residents report path closures due to floods

Residents of Pasaband district in Ghor province have reported that several paths connecting villages to district centers have been destroyed by recent floods and rainfall, affecting various parts of the province.

Residents emphasize that they are now forced to carry their patients on their shoulders for four to five hours to reach medical centers, as the paths are no longer suitable for transportation vehicles.

In Chand Chanar village, residents revealed that recent road damage caused a traffic accident resulting in two deaths and two injuries. “While crossing the pass, a motorcycle overturned, resulting in the death of two children and injuring a man and a woman. The recent rains have caused us more problems. For the past 21 months, we have been carrying our patients along this road and leaving our motorcycles behind,” said Ghulam Haidar, a resident of Pasaband.

“When we have a patient, we carry them on our shoulders for four to five hours. The floods have destroyed this road, and we ask the Emirate [Taliban] to address this problem,” Amir Khan, a local resident, explained the dire situation.

“The sooner this road is constructed, the more and sooner it will benefit our villagers,” Jamshid, another local, added.

Ghor is a remote province covered with mountains, and many of its residents lack access to basic health services. The recent fatal floods have had devastating impacts on the community.
