The German consulate in Karachi has suspended services for non-EU citizens indefinitely, citing security threats. According to a statement reported by Pakistani media, the consulate clarified that visas already issued to non-EU citizens can still be collected.
This move comes in the wake of increased militant violence in Pakistan, particularly targeting foreign nationals and law enforcement in Karachi. Arab News reported that a senior counter-terrorism official was fatally shot by unidentified militants on Sunday. Additionally, five Japanese workers narrowly escaped a suicide attack in April.
No group has claimed responsibility for these attacks, underscoring the volatile security situation in the region.
