At least seven dead after building collapse in western India

At least seven people died on Saturday afternoon when a five-story building collapsed in western India, police officials said on Sunday.

The incident took place in Sachin Pali village in Surat, a city in the state of Gujarat, trapping residents under the rubble.

A rescue operation was swiftly launched, and one woman was saved, according to Rajesh Parmar, the deputy commissioner of police in Surat.

The cause of the collapse remains unknown.
