UN’s meeting with women, human rights activists in Doha gets underway

DOHA, Qatar — A meeting of UN officials and special envoys with women, human rights activists and civil society representatives from Afghanistan started in Doha on Tuesday morning as part of the third Doha meeting.

The meeting is taking place at the Diplomatic Club Hotel in Doha.

According to sources, the meeting is held with eight members of civil society and women from Afghanistan but five of them will join the meeting online.

It is worth noting that several women representatives, human rights activists, and civil society members will participate in this meeting remotely.

At least three women activists from Afghanistan, including Habiba Sarabi and Zubaida Akbar, have declined an invitation to the meeting over Taliban’s presence in the first two days of the third Doha meeting on June 30 and July 1.
