At least seven killed in bus accident in Karachi

KARACHI, Pakistan — At least seven people were killed and 18 others injured in a bus accident in Karachi on Sunday, according to rescue officials.

The accident occurred on Mauripur Road when a speeding bus collided with a trailer truck that was making an illegal U-turn, local media reported. The impact caused the bus to overturn.

The passengers were en route to a beach picnic at the time of the accident, said Mohammad Amin, an official from the Edhi rescue service. Among the seven fatalities were three women, three children, and one man, Amin added.

The driver of the trailer truck fled the scene, while the bus driver was among the injured, according to police officials.
