Afghanistan faces Australia in T20 World Cup

Team Afghanistan is set to face Australia in a key ICC T20 World Cup match on Saturday evening, June 22 (Kingstown local time) at Arnos Vale Stadium.

Afghanistan is coming off a loss in its first Super 8 match, where India triumphed by 47 runs. In last year’s World Cup, Afghanistan gave Australia a tough challenge, reducing the Aussies to 91 runs with seven wickets down.

However, a historic innings by Glenn Maxwell led Australia to victory, thwarting Afghanistan’s hopes of a win.

The cricket boards of both nations have also faced tensions recently, following Australia’s cancellation of a bilateral series due to political issues in Afghanistan, including grave violations of women’s and human rights. Following the match against Australia, Afghanistan will play its next match against Bangladesh.
