PESHAWAR, Pakistan — A mine blast attached to a vehicle in the Kurram district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa killed two people and wounded five others on Sunday, according to Pakistani media reports.
The Express Tribune reported that the injured were transported to a hospital for medical treatment, with four of them in critical condition.
The incident follows a series of attacks in the region. On June 9, at least nine people, including seven army personnel, were injured in two separate militant attacks in Kurram and Dera Ismail Khan districts, according to officials cited by the Express Tribune. The wounded included senior officers of the Pakistani army.
Pakistan has recently experienced a surge in security incidents, including mine blasts and attacks targeting its military. The increase in violence has heightened concerns about stability in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other affected regions.
