The Taliban-run meteorology department has forecasted heavy rainfalls and potential floods in eight provinces of the country for Friday, June 14.

According to a statement from the department, the provinces expected to be affected are Badakhshan, Nuristan, Baghlan, Parwan, Kunar, and Maidan Wardak.

The forecast includes heavy rain, strong winds, and flash floods.

Rainfall is estimated to range between 15 to 25 millimeters across different areas, with wind speeds predicted to be between 50 to 80 kilometers per hour.

This warning follows the devastating floods in May that resulted in nearly 500 deaths in the northern, northeastern, and western regions of Afghanistan.
