Taliban administered public punishment to two individuals in Panjshir province on Tuesday, according to a statement from the Taliban-run supreme court.
The statement did not specify the type of punishment or the identities of the individuals but noted that they were charged with “having inappropriate relations.”
Since seizing power nearly three years ago, the Taliban has implemented corporal punishment on hundreds of people, including floggings and executions.
Human rights organizations have condemned the Taliban’s use of corporal punishment, expressing concerns over the lack of access to fair trials in the Taliban’s judicial system.
