KABUL, Afghanistan — The first transit train from Afghanistan has reached Van, Turkey, after a 40-day journey, according to Iranian media reports.
The train entered Iran approximately a month ago, as reported by the Iranian news agency ISNA.
The inaugural commercial train from Afghanistan to Turkey traveled via the “Razinak” route in Iran.
Iranian media cited “unknown reasons” for the month-long delay of the transit train.
Afghanistan aims to use the Herat-Khaf railway to transport its products to markets in Turkey and Europe.
