Paris Olympics: Afghanistan’s judoka Samim Faizzada to face Australian opponent

In the ongoing 2024 Paris Olympics, Afghan judoka Samim Faizzada is set to compete against Wachid Borchashvili from Australia.

The match is scheduled for Tuesday, July 30, at 10 a.m. Paris time.

On Thursday, August 1, Fahim Anwari will represent Afghanistan in swimming.

Meanwhile, Afghan cyclist Yulduz Hashimi competed in the women’s individual road time trial on Saturday, July 27. She finished 26th, covering the 32.4-kilometer distance in 44 minutes, 29 seconds, and 13 hundredths of a second out of 35 participants.

Grace Brown of Australia secured first place in this event. Hashimi’s time was 4 minutes, 50 seconds, and 89 hundredths of a second behind the winner.

Afghanistan is represented by several athletes in the Paris Olympics: Fahim Anwari in swimming, Kimia Yousofi in women’s track and field, Mohammad Samim Faizzada in judo, Fariba Hashimi in cycling, Shah Mahmood Noorzehi in men’s track and field, and Yulduz Hashimi in cycling.

Additionally, five other Afghan athletes are participating as part of the International Olympic Committee’s refugee team.
