Nearly 400 people killed in Gaza in two days, says health ministry

In a stark escalation of violence in Gaza, the Ministry of Health reported on Friday that 390 Palestinians have been killed and 734 injured in just the past two days.

A communication blackout is exacerbating the humanitarian crisis, with the reasons for the violence and loss of communication remaining unclear.

The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification indicates that hunger levels in Gaza have reached unprecedented heights.

According to a United Nations report, about a quarter of the population, or over half a million people, are facing imminent starvation. Fuel shortages have forced many to rely on soup kitchens for meals, as cooking at home becomes increasingly difficult.

The healthcare system is teetering on the brink of collapse, with only nine of 36 health facilities currently operational amid the escalating conflict.

The conflict, which has been fueled by Hamas’s attacks, has resulted in the displacement of approximately 1.9 million people.

Civilians, including a significant number of women and children, constitute roughly 70% of the death toll. The Israeli military’s intensive air and ground campaign has led to over 20,000 Palestinian deaths, marking this as the deadliest confrontation for Palestinians in the past 75 years.

The death toll is expected to rise as rescue efforts continue in the war-ravaged areas.
