BANNU, Pakistan — Pakistani security forces, supported by military helicopters, killed eight militants in a raid on a hideout in Bannu, a district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, on Wednesday, according to Pakistani media reports.
Zahidullah, a local police official, reported that a regional militant commander was among those killed in the operation. No details have been released on any casualties among Pakistani forces.
The raid comes amid an ongoing crackdown by Pakistan’s security forces on members of Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan, or TTP, which has intensified its activities in the region in recent months.
