Sources in the northeastern province of Badakhshan said that residents of Argu district staged another protest against the Taliban on Monday.
According to the sources, Taliban forcefully suppressed the protest using “violence”.
This incident comes nearly two weeks after a resident was killed by Taliban gunfire during a protest in Argu. Another local from the same district also lost his life in similar circumstances during recent demonstrations on May 4.
Following the end of the public protests in Darayim and Argu, the Taliban deployed additional forces to these two districts of Badakhshan and announced the continuation of their campaign to eradicate poppy cultivation.
