Two Herat schoolgirls in hospital after being sexually abused by ‘kidnappers’

Two young girls, aged 11 and 13, who were kidnapped on Monday while on their way to school in Payeen Ab area in Herat were found later in the day after having been sexually abused, sources from Herat’s hospital said Tuesday.

Sources said that the two girls were found in Pashtun Pul area on the outskirts of Herat city on Monday evening.

According to sources, the two girls are receiving medical treatment at the hospital.

Taliban authorities in Herat have not commented on the incident.

In another incident, three suspects, all young men, were shot dead in public in Shindand district in the western province of Herat after killing a pregnant woman and her two children and sexually abusing the woman in Shindand district, Taliban authorities said on Tuesday.

Abdullah Insaf, a Taliban police spokesman in Herat, said the incident happened in Zawol district of Herat.
