The UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office in a statement on Friday said that Robert Chatterton Dickson has been appointed as Britain’s chargé d’affaires for the interim mission of the UK to Afghanistan in succession to Hugo Shorter.

After the fall of the previous government in Afghanistan in August 2021, Britain moved its diplomatic mission to Doha.

The statement said that Hugo Shorter will be transferring to another Diplomatic Service appointment.

According to the statement, Mr. Dickson will take up his appointment in July 2023.

He has served as Britain’s deputy ambassador to Afghanistan from 2013 to 2015.
