Ninety-one Afghan citizens have been released from prisons across Pakistan and returned to Afghanistan on Sunday, according to the Taliban-run Ministry of Refugees.
In a statement, the ministry said the detainees had spent between one and five days in custody. Taliban officials said the individuals were arrested by Pakistani police in various regions of the country.
Figures reviewed by Amu, based on data from the ministry, show that a total of 715 Afghan nationals have been released from Pakistani prisons and repatriated over the past week, including the latest group.
Pakistan has intensified its crackdown on undocumented Afghan migrants as part of the second phase of a mass deportation campaign. In recent days, police in multiple cities have detained hundreds of Afghans and transferred them to the Torkham border crossing for expulsion.
