MADRID — The 12th Herat Security Dialogue opened on Monday in Madrid, bringing together political figures, former Afghan officials, and representatives from international organizations and various countries to discuss the future of Afghanistan.
Organized by the Afghanistan Institute for Strategic Studies, the two-day conference is themed “Afghanistan: Reviving Hope; Synergic Efforts.” According to the institute’s statement, discussions will center on Afghanistan’s position in global politics, the threat of terrorism, and the role of diplomacy in shaping the country’s future.
The conference aims to explore strategies for Afghanistan’s political stability and international cooperation.
The previous Herat Security Dialogue, the 11th in the series, was held in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, where participants examined the Taliban’s consolidation of power and its implications for the country’s future. That event gathered 150 attendees from 20 countries, including representatives of international organizations, political groups, and former Afghan government officials.
