KABUL, Afghanistan — Afghanistan’s Under-19 cricket team suffered a narrow loss to Nepal by one wicket in their third and final match of the ACC Men’s Under-19 Asia Cup.
Afghanistan won the toss and elected to bat first, setting a target of 124 runs in 50 overs after losing all their wickets. Nepal chased the modest total in the 41st over with nine wickets down, securing the victory in a closely contested match.
This defeat marks Afghanistan’s third loss in the tournament, ending their campaign without a win.
In their second match, Afghanistan faced a crushing defeat against Sri Lanka, losing by 131 runs. Batting first, Sri Lanka set a formidable target of 244 runs for Afghanistan, losing seven wickets in the process. Afghanistan’s batting lineup faltered, managing only 112 runs before being bowled out, handing Sri Lanka a dominant victory.
