Residents of Dara district in Panjshir and sources have reported that Taliban intelligence forces have detained more than 10 local civilians, transferring them to undisclosed locations.
The residents say they have no information on the fate of those detained, and that the area has been under Taliban siege for about a week, with house-to-house searches ongoing. The arrests followed an attack on a Taliban checkpoint last Friday evening. The National Resistance Front claimed responsibility for the assault, stating that 13 Taliban fighters were killed and two others wounded.
Local sources in Dara told Amu that over the past four days, the Taliban have detained at least 10 residents, accusing them of collaborating with the Resistance Front. Residents add that the Taliban have initiated searches of homes, allegedly seeking individuals involved in the checkpoint attack.
Among those detained are Malik Haidar, the community leader of Abdullah Khil village, and Mujib Zamani, the principal of the village school.
A relative of one of the detainees, who requested anonymity for safety reasons, said, “After the Friday explosion, the Taliban took away more than seven people. They even detained the school principal, the village elder, and other family members. They’re collecting people’s phones, telling us to find the resistance fighters.”
Another resident described the fear that has gripped the district.
“The Taliban have been harassing our community for a while now. They detained our village elder, took the schoolteacher, and are beating and interrogating people, accusing them of aiding the Resistance. They’ve arrested at least 13 young men,” the resident said.
Taliban have not yet commented on these reports or confirmed the Resistance Front’s claim of responsibility for the attack.
