Traffic accident on Pul-e Alam-Gardez Highway claims one life

A traffic accident on the Pul-e Alam-Gardez highway has left one person dead and injured eleven others, according to local Taliban officials in Logar Province.

Officials reported that the accident occurred late Monday when a passenger van collided with a smaller vehicle. The incident took place in the evening hours on October 8, disrupting traffic on the busy route.

This accident adds to a recent surge in traffic fatalities across Afghanistan.

According to data gathered by Amu Television, more than 110 people have died, and dozens more have been injured in various traffic incidents over the past two months.

Taliban traffic officials have attributed the majority of these accidents to reckless driving and speeding.

They warned that drivers’ disregard for safety protocols has led to a significant uptick in road casualties throughout the country.
