A traffic accident on the Kabul-Jalalabad highway has claimed the lives of five people, including a woman and a child, with six others injured, sources reported on Monday.

The incident occurred in the Naghlu area of Kabul’s Surobi district when a passenger vehicle collided with a cargo truck.

Traffic accidents have become increasingly frequent in Afghanistan. According to data compiled by Amu TV, nearly 100 people have died and dozens more have been injured in various traffic accidents across the country in the past two months alone.

Officials under the Taliban-run traffic department have previously attributed many of these incidents to reckless driving and excessive speeding.
