Afghanistan announces final squad for 2024 Futsal World Cup

The Afghanistan Football Federation unveiled the final roster for the national futsal team, set to compete in the 2024 Futsal World Cup in Uzbekistan.

Led by head coach Majid Mortezaei, the team will head into the tournament with 14 selected players.

Mortezaei, speaking after a friendly match against Morocco, which served as the final assessment of the players, acknowledged the difficulty of the selection process. “All of the players showed remarkable performances, making it tough to finalize the squad,” he said.

Out of the 18 players who traveled to Uzbekistan, 14 were chosen to represent the national team in the competition.

Here is the final list of players:

Mohammad Javad Safari (goalkeeper), Alireza Jafari (goalkeeper), Ali Ahmad Mohseni (goalkeeper), Mehdi Nowruzi (captain), Hamidreza Hosseini, Khodadad Ebrahimi, Reza Hosseinpour, Mehran Gholami, Omid Qanbari, Akbar Kazemi, Mohammad Moradi, Farzad Mahmoudi, Hossein Mohammadi, and Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini.

This squad will represent Afghanistan in the upcoming 2024 Futsal World Cup in Uzbekistan.

Afghanistan has had a strong showing in recent Asian futsal tournaments, raising expectations for the team’s performance on the global stage.
