A reliable source within the Taliban-controlled Ministry of Higher Education has disclosed that Taliban leader Hibatullah Akhundzada, along with Taliban Chief Minister Hassan Akhund and Taliban Higher Education Minister Neda Mohammad Nadim, have sworn to keep schools and universities closed to girls.

According to the source, Akhundzada and his close associates have taken an oath that these educational institutions will never reopen for girls, viewing such a move as capitulation to demands from the West and the United States.

For more than three years, the Taliban has barred girls from attending schools beyond the sixth grade and has closed all higher education institutions to women. The Taliban have declared that this policy will remain in place “until further notice.”

These actions have consistently drawn condemnation from the United Nations, the United States, and other countries around the world during this period.
