Flooding in Nangarhar kills child, injures six sthers

Heavy flooding in eastern Afghanistan’s Nangarhar Province has claimed the life of a child and left six others injured, according to Taliban officials.

The floods, triggered by intense rainfall on Tuesday night, struck several areas in the ninth district of Jalalabad, including Mama Mina, Afghan Mina, Alfet Mina, and Khogyani Town, causing significant damage to homes and infrastructure.

A statement from the Taliban governor’s office in Nangarhar reported that dozens of homes were destroyed, and substantial financial losses were incurred. Rescue operations were conducted, saving several residents from the affected areas.

The neighboring province of Panjshir, north of Kabul, also experienced severe flooding on Tuesday. Local residents reported extensive financial losses due to the deluge.

Over the past year, heavy rains, storms, and floods across various provinces in Afghanistan have resulted in the deaths of dozens of people and displaced thousands.
