Taliban has issued a directive to shopkeepers in Nili, the capital of Daikundi province, ordering them to display the group’s white flag on their storefronts in observance of August 15, the anniversary of the Taliban’s return to power.

In the notice distributed to shopkeepers, Taliban warned that those who fail to comply with the order will have their shops closed for three days.

The directive also instructed shopkeepers without an official Taliban flag to hang a white cloth instead.

The notice, confirmed by local sources speaking to Amu TV, specified that all flags must be displayed by 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 13. The Taliban also mandated that the flag be displayed at a height of one meter above the shops.

August 15 marks the day the Taliban refer to as their “victory” over the former Afghan government. Since seizing power, Taliban has imposed severe restrictions on women and girls, including banning them from schools, while Afghanistan’s economy has suffered, with unemployment reaching unprecedented levels.
