A Taliban official in Faryab province has confirmed that an 18-year-old was fatally stabbed on Tuesday night in the outskirts of Maimana, the provincial capital.
Shamsuddin Mohammadi, the head of Information and Culture for the Taliban in Faryab, identified the victim as Mirwais, the son of a local money changer in Maymana.
Mohammadi attributed the motive to “personal enmity” and noted that those involved in the incident have fled the scene.
This marks the fourth such incident in Faryab province in the past month. Previously, a pregnant woman was killed in an attack by unidentified individuals in the region.
