Residents of Gur Tepa district in Kunduz province report that the road paving project in their district has been halted since the Taliban took control. They lament that no one has listened to their pleas over the past three years.
The residents emphasize that, due to ongoing conflicts during the previous government, development projects in their district were never completed. Now, under Taliban rule, their issues remain unaddressed.
Nazar Sultan, a resident of Kunduz, stated, “The Taliban government has paid no attention to us. Our road is in terrible condition, and the government should pave it. We also lack a clinic; we need the government to build one for us.”
Ghiyasuddin, another resident, echoed these concerns: “We have no hospital, no electricity, and we rely on solar power. We spend our nights in darkness.”
The lack of medical centers, schools, and potable water are additional challenges that residents of this district face daily.
Khudaidad, another resident of Kunduz, told Amu, “We are suffering greatly in this district. We have no drinking water, no hospital, no electricity, and there is a lot of dust.”
Gur Tepa district was established eight years ago by order of the former president, but it has been a significant battleground between the previous government’s forces and the Taliban in recent years.
