In an ongoing crackdown, Iran and Pakistan expelled 5,303 Afghan migrants on Saturday, July 27, forcing their return to Afghanistan, according to a statement from the Taliban-run Ministry of Refugees.

The ministry reported that 4,994 individuals were expelled from Iran, while Pakistan deported 309.

The statement detailed the points of entry for the returning migrants, with 3,253 entering through the Islam Qala border and 1,741 via the Silk Bridge crossing. Additionally, 175 migrants returned through the Torkham border and 134 from Spin Boldak.

This mass expulsion follows a similar action two days prior, where nearly 3,500 Afghan migrants were forcibly and voluntarily expelled by Iran and Pakistan.
