One killed in traffic accidents in Zabul

ZABUL, Afghanistan — One person was killed and six others were injured in two separate traffic accidents in the southern province of Zabul on Wednesday, according to a Taliban spokesman.

Zabihullah Johar, a spokesman for the Taliban’s provincial command in Zabul, said that a woman was among those injured.

The first incident occurred in the Shajoy district when a vehicle overturned. The second accident took place in Qalat, the provincial capital, involving a collision between two vehicles.

These accidents come amid a recent increase in traffic incidents on highways across the country, resulting in numerous fatalities.

Officials from the Taliban’s traffic department attribute many of these accidents to driver negligence and excessive speed.
