Clashes between the Taliban and Iranian forces have erupted in the border areas of Nimruz Province, according to several media outlets.
The Nedaey Baluch News Agency reported that the fighting began on Saturday morning due to unknown circumstances and by early afternoon was still ongoing.
The clashes were said to have taken place in at least two border areas within the Kang District of the province.
Meanwhile, another news outlet, which covers the Balochistan region, stated that both sides involved in the conflict are using light and heavy weapons.
The intensity of the clashes remains unclear at the moment.
A video circulated through social media shows the aftermath of a mortar shell that hit the former airfield of the provincial capital Zaranj City.
The shell was reportedly fired by Iranian forces, although behind the incident are yet to be confirmed.
