A 26-year-old woman in eastern Nangarhar province has died by suicide after what Taliban officials described as domestic violence.
Tayeb Hamad, spokesman for the Taliban police command in Nangarhar, said the woman hanged herself from the ceiling of her room near the Sorkh Rod district.
Hamad said domestic violence was believed to be the main cause, though the exact circumstances remain under investigation. He did not provide further details about the woman’s identity or her family.
Taliban police said they have opened an inquiry into the case.
This comes as suicide attempt incidents have increased in eastern parts of the country, particularly in Khost, where dozens have committed suicide over the past two months.
