A Taliban member in northeastern Kunduz province fatally shot his brother following a dispute over land, local sources told Amu on Monday.
The sources identified the man as Mohammad Omar, known locally as Mullah Tofan, a resident of Qasem Ali village in Aliabad district. They said he shot and killed his brother, Sayed Akbar, during an argument.
The incident occurred Sunday, Aug. 17.
Taliban have not commented publicly, but the sources said Mullah Tofan has been taken into custody.
The Taliban, who returned to power in Afghanistan four years ago, have repeatedly faced accusations of involvement in violent disputes and other deadly incidents.
