At least 8 people wounded as blast derails train in Pakistan

At least eight people were injured in an explosion near a railway track in the Paneer area in Balochistan’s Bolan district of Pakistan on Friday, Pakistani media reported, quoting senior Railways official.

Quoted by Dawn News, Pakistan Railways spokesperson in Balochistan, Muhammad Kashif, said the blast happened when the Peshawar-bound Jaffer Express was passing by the area. The train was coming from Mach area, the report said.

According to Pakistani officials, as a result of the blast, six bogies of the train derailed, leaving at least eight people injuried.

The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital while an emergency has been declared across all hospitals in the district, Dawn News reported.

Police have not yet issued a statement on the incident.

The incident comes after a series of attacks in different parts of Pakistan, especially Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, that have left dozens of people killed and wounded.

In a latest incident on Dec 25, 2022, six security personnel were killed and at least 17 more were wounded in different attacks across Balochistan.

The statement further said that the sanitisation operation continued in the area to apprehend the suspects involved in the attack.
